VISION &
PRIORITIES

I'm focused on PUEBLO first! My philosophy is simple - Listen to Pueblo. "I believe that effective representation doesn't start in Denver—it starts here at home, at your kitchen tables and in our local businesses. That is why I am officially launching my District 3 Listening Tour.

As I meet with people throughout the district, my goal is to listen more than I speak. I am meeting with neighbors, small business owners, and community leaders to ensure that my full legislative platform is built on the real-world experiences of the people I intend to serve. While I am working with you to develop a comprehensive plan for our future, my immediate focus is dedicated to the three most critical challenges facing Pueblo today."

01

AFFORDABLE ECONOMIC STABILITY & GROWTH

Pueblo’s economy is the backbone of Southern Colorado. My experience with the El Pomar Foundation and the White House Office of Legislative Affairs has shown me how to leverage resources and policy to drive growth. I am committed to cutting red tape for our small businesses and ensuring District 3 is a hub for high-paying jobs and sustainable investment.

02

PUBLIC SAFETY

With my extensive background in the criminal justice system—from serving as a Judicial Law Clerk to my work in the Pueblo Veteran’s Treatment Court—I know how to make our community safer. I am focused on creating a system that prioritizes victim safety, supports our law enforcement, and uses proven methods to reduce recidivism. No one in this race understands the mechanics of public safety better than I do, and I am ready to put that expertise to work for our community.

03

PUBLIC HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT

As a brain cancer survivor, Aaron understands that Health is foundational to a thriving Pueblo. Aaron supports expanding Medicaid access, a state public option, and working towards health equity in our our healthcare systems but also in our environment. Pueblo’s future depends on protecting its natural resources. As the former clerk to a Water judge Aaron is uniquely positioned to tackle these deeply complex issues and challenges with pro-active solutions.

MEET AARON

A Lifetime of Service. A Career in Justice. A Vision for a Safer Pueblo.

Aaron is a fourth generation Puebloan. His mother’s family came to Pueblo to work in the steel mill and his father’s family came to work in our fields. He was born and raised in the steel city from early childhood at Eastside Childcare Center to his graduation from Central High School, Pueblo is the place and the people he calls home.

As a young adult Aaron was diagnosed with brain cancer and that fight turned him into a warrior of resilience. He learned gratitude and what it means to truly fight for your life in the midst of our healthcare system. Cancer taught Aaron the importance of the never-ending love of family, friends and hope through the support of his Pueblo community.

Aaron is married to Rochelle, his best friend and the one who keeps him grounded. He is a devoted dad to their son. He is a dedicated attorney, community leader, and advocate for those who need an advocate most.

Aaron was raised by and is rooted in Pueblo. He is shaped by a lifetime of service to local community organizations. He is running for State Senate to bring steady, people-first leadership to the Capitol and he will continue to fight for families across our community through lawmaking.

It's time to elect Aaron Gutierrez so he can make the case for Pueblo where our families and our community are the priority.  This is the community that raised Aaron and he is ready to lead. He is equipped to bring the kind of hope and change we need in Pueblo and it will take a defender who knows the law and has the experience to get the job done.  This is why we need to unite as a community to vote for Aaron Gutierrez for State Senate District 3.

"I am running for State Senate to bring steady, people-first leadership to the Capitol and continue fighting for the lives of working families across our community. I am Pueblo Proud and look forward to being elected your champion and advocate."

Aaron has the expertise we can all trust when it comes to public safety and judicial reform!

"I know our criminal justice system better than any of my opponents. My perspective isn't based on theory; it's based on years of practice in the 10th Judicial District and across Colorado."

  • Judicial Reform: As a owner and partner at the Garcia Gutierrez Law Group and a former public defender, Aaron has seen exactly where our legal system succeeds and where it fails the people it is meant to protect.

  • Supporting Our Veterans: One of the honors of Aaron's career was serving those in need within the Pueblo Veteran’s Treatment Court. He understands how to balance firm accountability with the specialized support needed to reduce recidivism and keep our streets safe.

  • Judicial Insight: Serving as a Law Clerk for the Water Division of the 10th Judicial District gave Aaron a "behind-the-bench" view of how judicial rulings are drafted and how state law impacts our local resources.

Proven Leadership from Pueblo to the White House

Aaron's experience extends from our local neighborhoods to the highest levels of national policy. Aaron knows how to navigate the halls of power to bring results back home to Pueblo.

  • National Policy Experience: As a Public Policy Fellow in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs during the Obama Administration, Aaron worked directly with U.S. Senators and Representatives to move critical initiatives forward.

  • Fighting for Southern Colorado: Working in the office of Congressman John Salazar, Aaron focused on regional issues and policy initiatives that matter most to our part of the state.

  • Effective Grantmaking: During my time as an El Pomar Foundation Fellow, Aaron helped oversee and recommend more than $150,000 in grant requests, ensuring that community organizations had the funding to make a real difference.

Education and Professional Values

I am a proud graduate of Colorado College, where I received a full ride scholarship and graduated with a degree in International Political Economy and Spanish. I earned my Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School.

My career has been defined by standing up for people who need a champion. I’m running for State Senate to bring that same fighting spirit to Denver on behalf of every family in District 3.
